"WE ARE APPEALING TO GOVERNMENT TO CONSTRUCT AND TILE OUR ROAD FOR US" THE PEOPLE OF BUILSA TRADITIONAL AREA.
Good roads are very crucial for the socioeconomic development of a Nation.
It provides access to employment, social related life, health and education services, that can help in fighting against that natural but dangerous disease called poverty. It is also a network of transportation that connects different people of different places together for the purpose of exchanging culture, economic ventures and social services. In Ghana here, the construction of roads is one of the major political campaign message for politicians within the country based on its vital role in a country development. This has resulted to the construction of many roads across the length breadth of the country in fulfilment of these campaign promises. Based on that fact, one can confidently assert to the claim that, Ghana is one of the African countries that that can boast of have good and portal roads. On the contrary, these roads are limited to some particular places especially the southern part of Ghana whilst some parts of the northern part are still swallowed with real dust. Could it be that the leaders of these affected places are not effective to lobby for good roads? Or they don't have the influencing power to effect the request to its actualisation. These are few of the skeptical questions that the affected people would want to seek for answers to.
Among the affected group is the people of BUILSA. Builsas are the Buli speaking people located in the Upper East Region, Ghana. They consist of Builsa North and South with their district capitals as Sandema and Fumbisi respectively. These people are said to have suffered enough and still suffering in terms of transporting their goods to the neighboring communities due to the nature of their untiled road. They only road linking the two districts and the entire natives of the BUILSA traditional Area have been left unattended to since its rough construction. Speaking to some of the road users, they express their displeasure for this unfair treatment.
According to one Mr. Anab in the interview, they have been decieved by politicians for a long time concerning the construction and tiling of the road. He said the construction of this road is only mentioned during an electioneering campaign but after election, nothing about the road will be raised until another election year.
Speaking to BULUK ONE TV, they are plead with government to help solve this problem for them at least for once since they are also full citizens of Ghana by all citizenry qualifications.
